Donor Advised Funds can be opened, and maintained, with a minimum of $2,500 in appreciated stocks, cash or credit card. You name the fund for your family or as a memorial to a loved one and you recommend grants, of a minimum of $100 each,
to any not-for-profit. You can even designate other family members to succeed you as advisers to the account – into perpetuity.
You get a full tax deduction in the year you make your gift and if you wish, you can defer your distribution grants to
future years.
The Foundation writes all the checks and provides you with quarterly statements on your Fund’s balance and distributions.
