2006 Foundation’s Legacy Award:

The First Legacy Award goes to Michael Moss
The Jewish Community Foundation honored Michael Moss in August 2006 with it’s first Annual Legacy Award, initially called the Unsung Hero Award.  This award is meant to recognize someone in the community who has given extraordinary support to our community both in the quality of their dedication and the quantity of their years of service. Michael Moss is the first recipient of this Foundation honor. Mike has been chosen for both the length and the breath of his service. It is the Foundation’s way of honoring those who work behind the scenes on behalf of our community, year in and year out.

Going back to 1980, Mike served as one of the chairs of the Federation’s annual campaign. Over the years he has been president of both Temple Society of Concord, and the Syracuse Jewish Children’s Foundation. He was a founding board member of three organizations, the Syracuse Jewish Cemeteries Association, the Food Bank of CNY,  & the Judaic Heritage Center of CNY. In addition, he served on the boards of the Federation, Jewish Family Service, and the Interreligious Council of CNY.

Although Michael has already been honored many times by our community, the Foundation felt that his long-time service deserves special recognition.
